Oct 1, 2025
Clean out your closets. Give warmth. Make a difference.
Second Chance Thrift Store Calls for Winter Clothing Donations
Prince George, BC — October 1, 2025. As the temperatures drop, the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) of Northern BC’s Second Chance Thrift Store is putting out an urgent call for donations of warm winter clothing to support individuals and families in our community.
The thrift store is seeking donations of:
- Winter coats and jackets
- Sweaters and hoodies
- Toques, mittens, scarves, and gloves
- Warm socks
- Other clean, gently used winter wear
“Many of our neighbours are facing the harsh northern winter without the essentials needed to stay warm and safe,” said Elaine Laberge, Executive Director, CMHA of Northern BC. “By cleaning out your closets and donating to Second Chance Thrift Store, you’re not only giving clothing a second life but also giving people in our community a chance to thrive during these difficult months.”
All proceeds from sales at Second Chance Thrift Store go directly to sustain the thrift store’s operations, ensuring it continues to serve the community as an affordable shopping option and a vital hub of support.
How You Can Help:
- Drop off donations during store hours at Second Chance Thrift Store, 1152 – 3rd Avenue, Prince George.
- Ensure items are clean and in good condition before donating.
- Encourage friends, family, and neighbours to do the same.
This winter, your generosity can make the difference between someone facing the cold unprotected and being wrapped in warmth and care. Together, we can build a stronger, more compassionate community.
