Alzheimer’s disease is a chronic neurodegenerative disease that destroys brain cells, causing thinking ability and memory to deteriorate over time. Alzheimer’s disease is not a normal part of aging, and is irreversible.
August 31st is International Overdose Awareness Day
International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD) – held on August 31 every year – is the world’s largest annual campaign to end overdose, remember without stigma those who have died and acknowledge the grief of family and friends left behind.
The Thrift Store within the Canadian Mental Health Association of Northern BC complex, 1152 Third Ave., doesn’t just give a second chance to the donations sold there but also offers a second chance to clients who are part of the work force at the store.
“That little thrift store provides an opportunity for folks who would otherwise never have an opportunity to contribute to society,” said Elaine Laberge, Canadian Mental Health Association of Northern BC executive director.
