Day One – Mental Health Week Round Up
May 3, 2022
Good morning Northern BC,
How was your first day of Mental Health Week?
We hit the ground running and wanted to share what came through on our end!
Media:
- GetReal was buzzing on social media.
- We trended in 2nd place on Twitter all day (after Eid Mubarak)!
- The traditional media kept Margaret Eaton busy yesterday. Her day started with a live interview on CTV News Channel and we saw 317 hits across the country in response to our media release, many in your regions! Bravo on the pitching, everybody!
- There were 840 separate earned media hits just yesterday that featured Mental Health Week!
Website:
The traffic on mentalhealthweek.ca and the number of toolkit downloads have been astonishing. What’s especially noteworthy is that our empathy message is reaching distant shores! We had website visitors from countries the world over: United States, Ireland, India, Sweden, France, United Kingdom, Brazil, China and Germany.
Nationwide Event:
Exploring Empathy, our nationwide kick-off event, couldn’t have been more successful. There was virtual “standing-room only.” In fact, we had to increase the size of the Zoom in order to accommodate all the interest. The panelists – Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, Michael Landsberg, Kayla Breelove Carter and emcee Nick Petrella were riveting and relatable, and made empathy come alive. Here are some of the adjectives we heard: motivating, amazing, inspiring, empowering, insightful, and we could go on and on. If you missed it, you can view it here and on CMHA National’s Facebook page, here. It will also be “done up” for TV and broadcast on Rogers tv tomorrow night and will live forevermore on the Rogers TV Youtube channel. Big thanks to the CMHA branches in Ontario who conceived of and organized the event. Jill Dennison (CMHA Hamilton) and Katrina Burch (CMHA Waterloo Wellington) deserve special mention for their work behind the scenes. Congratulations! Our nationwide French-language event co-hosted by ACSM Division du Québec (CMHA Quebec Division) is coming to Zoom tomorrow at noon. Sign up here.
That’s our round-up for Day 1! There’s so much more to come as Mental Health Week picks up steam.
