The Push-Up Challenge

Your effort can make a big impact

February 1st – 23rd, 2024
2,000 push-ups over 23 days
Get fit, have fun and learn about mental health!

Why 2,000 push-ups?

This represents the 20% of Canadians who will experience a mental illness each year

Make a difference to mental health across Canada by choosing to fundraise for the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA). Fundraising is optional but it’s a great way to show support and get your family and friends engaged in the push for better mental health.

Every dollar you raise will help CMHA to support recovery from mental illness and foster positive mental health outcomes in Canada

Register interest

Register your interest for the 2024 challenge so we can notify you when registrations open in November. Simply fill out a few details on the register your interest form.

Join the challenge

You can register for free when registrations open in November 2023.
You can take on the challenge on your own or create a team. Teams help build motivation and healthy competition. For groups of more than 10 people, we suggest you create a community (a collection of teams). These work well for workplaces, gyms, schools and clubs, or big groups of friends.

Start pushing

From 1 to 23 February you’ll challenge yourself to complete 2,000 push-ups – representing the 20% of Canadians who will experience a mental illness each year.

Each day of the challenge, you will receive a daily target with a corresponding mental health fact, so you can learn while you push for better mental health. You can substitute push-ups with alternative exercises, or aim for a smaller portion of the target if the full target is too challenging.

Fundraise

Whilst fundraising is an optional part of this event, we do encourage it. Funds raised will go towards the Canadian Mental Health Association who supports people living with mental illness, as well as preventing mental ill-health and promoting mental health and resilience for all Canadians.
